Humanitarian emergency in 2008
Food support to people affected by drought and floods.A terrible drought has hit the region in southwestern Somalia, killing dozens of people and hundreds of animals.
The UN World Food Program estimates that there were approximately one million people in Somalia in need of food aid and as a result of drought and floods. .
Una scuola per la vita association organized in collaboration with local partner Madina Warsame wide distribution of drinking water and food to support more than 100,000 people in affected areas.
Food aid assistance is being distributed in the center of Dhusamareb town,which has been offered by Madina Warsame development organization that acts as an operational partner of Una Scuola per la vita Association.
Some hungry refugee people are recieving food aid assistance in Dhusamareb , Marergur district and Gadon district of galgadud region.
As a long drought caused water shortage people had to go on food carrying big jars to bring water for their families` daily use and some tankers full of clean drinking-water had been hired for them by Madina Warsame development organization.
Presentations were made on several occasions and distribution of food aid has been made by our local employees.
